TORONTO. Canada – Jaguars kept their bragging rights intact, turning back the challenge of Kaieteur when the annual All Stars softball clash was held as part of the Ontario Softball Cricket League (OSCL) fun day last Saturday at the Ashtonbee ground, Scarborough.

Led by a fine all-round performance by skipper Kumar Doodnauth, Jaguars posted a respectable 109 for eight in their allotted 15 overs after being asked to take first strike. Richard Dias supported with an attacking 21. Former Guyana Under-19 left-arm fast-medium bowler Naresh Roopnarine bagged two for 11 while Sheldon Burnett supported with two for 17, both from three overs.
Kaieteur, led by former Guyana Chronicle and Guyana Times sports reporter and current Public Relations Officer of the OSCL, Ravendra Madholall, never seriously threatened their opponents’ score, losing wickets at regular intervals. They eventually reached 81 for eight when their 15 overs expired.
Doodnauth returned to claim three for four in a remarkable three-over spell and was duly named the Most Valuable Player for his team. Roopnarine copped a similar award for Kaieteur.
The feature game is contested between teams from the A and B divisions of the league, with Jaguars comprising the former and Kaieteur the latter.
Jaguars were managed by OSCL East End Coordinator Vish Jadunauth who boasted that the victory was his team’s eighth consecutive since the contest started, while another executive, Ranjan Persaud was the manager for Kaieteur. (Frederick Halley)
