STEVEN Crook led the way as Australia bowlers were put to the sword by Northamptonshire on day two of three at Wantage Road.
After the opening day had been washed out, Crook’s unbeaten 142 spelled another difficult day for the tourists – already beaten by England in the Investec Ashes – as the hosts ran up 396 all out.
Crook’s excellent day continued when Australia started their reply as he pouched a catch to remove David Warner for six off the bowling of Maurice Chambers, with the visitors reaching stumps on 13 for one.
Peter Siddle, Pat Cummins and Fawad Ahmed – all unused by coach Darren Lehman in an Ashes Test series Australia trail 3-1 with only next week’s final game at the Kia Oval to play – featured in the tourists’ bowling attack. (PA Sport)
