A HIGH Court Judge yesterday prohibited two female reporters from sitting in at a trial at the Demerara Assizes where a man is accused of raping a child.According to reports emanating from the judge, the 12-year-old virtual complainant who was allegedly raped by Deochand Ramlall of Foulis, East Coast Demerara, was about to give evidence and so the court was cleared of all reporters.
One reporter in practice for more than 50 years pointed out that it was one of the rare occasions when the Press had been called on to leave the courtroom because a victim of tender years was about to testify.
According to the court document, the accused Deochand Ramlall of Foulis, East Coast Demerara was committed to stand trial for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl on March 21, 2013.
