Middle-aged man charged with damaging cellphone

GODFREY Taylor, 54, was granted $20,000 bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan after he appeared before her, charged with damaging a $10,000 BLU cellular phone.Taylor denied the charge that alleged on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Croal Street, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged Akeem Peters’ cellular phone.
According to prosecutor Deniro Jones, on the day in question Peters was at Demico and was about to answer his cellphone when the defendant bumped into him, causing the said phone to fall on the ground. The matter was subsequently reported to the police.
In his defence, the elderly man explained that it was Peters who bumped into him and requested that the court be lenient with him, since he is unemployed and dependent on his family for his financial needs.
The magistrate, with no objection by the prosecutor, granted Taylor bail and ordered him to return to court on July 30.
