THE Ministry of Social Protection has strongly condemned the brutal murder of 68-year-old Chandroutie Persaud who was found bound and gagged at her home in Riverview Squatting Area, Mahaica yesterday.
Minister of Social Protection, Volda Lawrence, in a statement last evening, pointed out that in recent times, “there has been a spate of mindless murders particularly of our women folk in spite of efforts made to address and eliminate this scourge.”

The Minister views this situation as deplorable and commits the efforts of the Ministry to combat this wave of heinous crimes and to protect the rights of this vulnerable resource of our society.
