Over 1,500 Statements of Polls (SoPs) out of a total of 2,299 are in the possession of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), according to its Chairman Dr Steve Surujbally. Today at a news conference, he disclosed that GECOM is in the process of verifying the SoPs, which will then be processed by the Commission’s technical staffers and then approved by the Chief Elections Officer (CEO), Keith Lowenfield, before being made public.
Mr Lowenfield disclosed that up to noon today (Tuesday), SoPs from Regions 1, 7, 8 and 9 are still to be transmitted to GECOM, while there have been partial submissions from other electoral districts and completed submissions from Region 4.
“Please be advised that the Guyana Elections Commission is currently in the process of the unhindered receipt of Statements of Polls, from the 2,299 Polling Stations across Guyana. These Statements of Poll are being processed by GECOM staff,” the Commission stated.
A preliminary release of the May 11, 2015 General and Regional elections is expected at 6:00 pm.
