An open letter to the undecided voters

TODAY, I want to awaken the sensibilities of the undecided voters out there who can’t make up their minds. My quest is to awaken the realities of that group who thinks that in the event the APNU+AFC Coalition forms the next Government, that they can twist the arm of the President to get want they want. Well, I have news for them; that will not happen; it never did in any coalition with the PNC in the past and certainly would not happen now.The simple fact is the PNC has an onerous track record with coalitions they always assume the bullying, dictatorial role in any such associations. They dictate what should and will happen in any association with them. I need not belabour the position the PNC takes on junior partners when it comes to a union with them. It is as clear as day they are the tyrants who will bully their way around on this.
And if you want to engage on a debate on this just take a look at the so called clauses of the coalition you will see that there is nothing there for the juniors to speak on. They are just there as rubber stamps to adhere to the whims and fancies of the elder more superior grouping. They are there to say yes to the dictates of the major partner. I forcibly brought home the point to a former WPA now turn coalition supporter. I reminded him that in the same way they decimated the WPA Leader and party the same goes for the AFC. Dr. Rupert Roopnarine is a just a passing thought, like Dr. Rodney before him he heads no party and is just a yes man to the PNC. Nagamootoo is now heading at break neck speed down that road.
I reminded him of the constitution which gives sweeping powers to the President after an election. Should they win it will be President Granger thereafter, no Nagamootoo. And should he, Nagamootoo become disenchanted with the leadership he cannot disassociate himself from the coalition by crossing the floor, he has no choice, but to simply sit there and absorb the blows; he has to endure it.
Well, I am not totally correct he has the option of voting alongside the PPP/C, but wait a minute, this has a grave disadvantage. Granger can simply dissolve parliament and rule “auto-pilot.” Ramotar did use this constitutional right; in a limited way calling on the parties to talk it over as to the road the country was headed. This did not work every effort he made fell through. Ramotar was then left in a hapless mode, so, he did call an election.
Well, that certainly will change should Granger win; he will rule auto-pilot for as long as he can until local and international groups pressure him into calling an election. That election would be called but it will be rigged because that is the only way PNC can win an election in Guyana.
Oh yes, the present constitution makes provision for that, this would be the dictator constitution in full force. He does not need Parliament to run the country, and let me add that would be the last election because like his idol Burnham, when he got tired of the UF – and that was a mere 3 years later – he instituted the elaborate system of rigging to stay in office for life.
Don’t you ever lose sight of this fact, and should you be in denial that this has changed just look at the case filed by the PNC/APNU supporter challenging the presidential term limit. This is a clear sign of what is to come; the PNC/APNU team wants the two term presidential limit struck out so that it can usher in the return of the President for life system back again. There should no question in any one’s mind as to the real meaning of this case. The shenanigan of him making out a case for ex-president Dr. Jagdeo is most jocular because Jagdeo never wants to be President again neither did he ask the learned gentleman to represent him. What is clear is that should the coalition win there would be the set-up of a Kangaroo Court and the law would be passed reverting us back to the debilitating “President for life” syndrome.
Granger’s stuffing of his party with ex-police ex-military men is a sure sign as to the way things would be done here. It sends a clear signal to all and sundry “do as you are told” or else face the dire consequences.
The PNC has changed their names (so many times over) but the core values of being in control, liars and riggers of elections has not changed. They will persist with these values they hold dear.
So, people out there if you want to be fooled into believing that “they have changed and deserve a chance joke” then you only yourself to blame. However, I caution you the reality scenario I have painted above sure awaits you after the dust of victory would have settled.

This is the situation set before you pick your poison. Choose ye this day whom ye will serve.
