Leverock adds four first-class wickets

LONDON, England (CMC) – Promising Bermuda all-rounder Kamau Leverock has claimed his fifth first-class wicket, after picking up four for Cardiff MCC University.Leverock, a 20-year-old right-arm seamer who is in his first year of studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University in Wales, added to the one he took last week against county side Gloucestershire by taking four against Essex in their three-day game which ended in a draw at the Ford County Ground in Chelmsford on Tuesday.

Leverock took two for 101 from 18 overs in Essex’s first innings and added two for 49 from 14 – including Jamie Porter for a duck – in the second.
The university side were outplayed by Essex, who piled up 487 for seven declared in their first innings and 324 for seven declared in their second, but closed on 116 for two to secure the draw after being dismissed for 186 in their first innings.
Leverock, who was out for a duck in the first innings and did not bat in the second, is the son of Bermuda-based Barbadian policeman Dave Greenidge and nephew of former West Indies Test batsman Alvin Greenidge as well as burly former Bermuda slow bowler Dwayne Leverock.
Cardiff MCC University is one of six University Centres of Cricketing Excellence supported by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
