MEMBERS of Copa Airlines new ConnectMiles loyalty programme will be able to earn miles for flights and enjoy travel rewards as of July 2015.Copa Airlines, the Panamanian flag carrier, explained that ConnectMiles members can earn miles and redeem rewards on travel to more than 1,300 destinations in the Star Alliance global route network.
A press statement from the company said that ConnectMiles offers members exclusive benefits and promotions.
The programme is designed to enhance Copa’s relationship with frequent flyers and provide them with exclusive benefits and follows the same model for earning and redeeming miles as previous Copa loyalty programmes.
ConnectMiles rewards customers for distance flown on Copa Airlines flights, as well as the opportunity to earn additional miles depending on the purchased fare and the passenger’s status in the programme. Members of ConnectMiles also will be able to earn miles and redeem rewards on travel to more than 1,300 destinations in the Star Alliance global route network, which includes the world’s major air carriers.
The members can also have access to competitive mileage-redemption fees, adjusted to Copa’s network, and can use miles to upgrade from economy class when travelling with purchased tickets. Qualification requirements for Prefer Programme status will be more flexible; members who attain the status will be eligible for courtesy upgrades and other benefits.
“We are very proud of our new ConnectMiles loyalty programme,” said Pedro Heilbron, Copa Airlines CEO. “ConnectMiles aligns perfectly with our goal of continuing to provide our customers world-class service designed to fit their travel needs, and demonstrates our strength as a company.”
“Copa’s close and successful relationship with United Airlines will continue,” Heilbron added. “Our new loyalty programme includes reciprocal benefits between ConnectMiles and MileagePlus, including better access to available travel reward seats and acceptance of upgrade certificates between the two programmes.”
Copa Airlines continues to strengthen its contribution to Panama’s economic and social development, airline officials state, translating directly and indirectly to more than 38,000 jobs and an approximately 4.1 percent share of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to an International Air Transport Association (IATA) study on Economic Benefits of Panama Air Transport.
These new destinations offer flights to 73 destinations in 30 countries in North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean from its Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama. The Hub of the Americas continues to offer more international flights to destinations in Latin America than any other airline. During Copa Airlines’ more than 65 years of uninterrupted operations, it has transformed the Hub of the Americas in Panama into the leading hub on the continent.
