THE county of Berbice will be hosting its grand Mashramani Costume and Float parade today (Sunday, March 1) with the region’s theme being ‘Celebrating Unity, Prosperity and Harmony in our land of Rich History and Cultural Diversity’.
The much anticipated costume and float parade will commence from Tacama Turn, New Amsterdam, then proceed into Vryheid Street, Strand South, and will culminate at Matthew Allen Road (Stelling Road), followed by a ‘Mash Wash-Down’ party, afterwards.
Up to yesterday, nine bands have registered to enter the parade, eight of which will be from Georgetown. Included are those from a number of ministries: Culture, Youth and Sport; Education; Health; Agriculture; and Amerindian Affairs; plus participation from the Progressive Youth Organisation; Guyana Youth and Student Movement; and Digicel.
