THE NATIONAL Sports Commission’s annual Table Tennis Championship is scheduled to commence this Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall beginning at 10:00hrs.The championship, which is being organised by the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) and coordinated by national table tennis coach Linden Johnson, will feature Mini-cadets, (nine years and under), Pre-cadets (13 years and under), Cadets (15 years and under), Juniors (18 years and under) and seniors and is open to all affiliated members of the GTTA.
Players wishing to participate must get registered by Wednesday.
The Mashramani Competition will be held across two weekends with the mini-cadets, cadets and juniors competitions running from Friday to Sunday.
The senior players will do battle on February 21 and 22.
The opening ceremony is set for Saturday at 10:00hrs.
Meanwhile, the GTTA will conduct a fitness check on all national players as well as prospective national players as part of its selection criteria and this will be done today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from 14:00hrs.
