Mr. and Ms. UGSS 2015 looming…

On Monday 19th of January, 2015, The University of Guyana Students’ Society (UGSS) launched its scholarship program. This program will undertake the format of a beauty and intelligence pageant themed:
“King of Erudition, Queen of Elegance-True Beauty is Intelligence”.
The Pageant is slated for Saturday, 7th of February, 2015 at 8pm at the National Cultural Center (NCC).
The Senior Vice-President, Crystal Blackmore gave a preamble to the intent of the pageant and emphasized the unique aspect of this program which encompasses both male and female delegates vying for the winning Mr. & Ms. UGSS titles.
Pageant committee head, Shebiki Beaton mentioned and thanked sponsors who are already in support of this venture. These included Trophy Stall, Tent City, Trendy Plus Boutique and Bargain Supermarket, and the Conveniences Store.
The eleven contestants are being trained by Miss Pamela Dillon, Randy Madray and Stephen Validum

Contestants of the Mr. and Ms. UGSS Pageant 2015

MALES

1. Paul Garraway
Faculty of Health Sciences – Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery-His platform, when summarized, aims to highlight strategies to facilitate dropout prevention among students at the University of Guyana.

2. Malcolm Moffatt
Faculty of Health Science- Medical Technology- His platform when summarized, aims to promote Health and Fitness among students at the University of Guyana.
3. Jermain DeHaarte
Faculty of social science, Reading for a degree in Bachelors degree in Business Management-His platform, when summarized, aims at improving education through the University’s library
4. Dwayne Mckinnon
Faculty of Natural Sciences – Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics.His platform, when summarized, focuses on human disabilities, specifically blindness.

5. Taise Seepaul
Faculty of Technology- Degree in Civil Engineering- Resuscitation of sporting activities at the University of Guyana.

FEMALES
1. Esther Inniss
Faculty of Social Science- bachelor of Social Science degree in International Relations-Her platform when summarized, aims to encourage students to be more proactive at the University of Guyana.
2. Tomika CookepAGEANT
Faculty of Social Science- Degree in Business Management-Her platform, when summarised, focuses on the need for the establishment of meaningful internships in a diverse group of employment categories to enhance and enrich the average student’s tenure at the University of Guyana.

3. Melissa Canterbury
Education of humanities- Bachelor of Arts degree of english-Her platform aims at encouraging the delivery of quality career guidance to students at the University of Guyana. She believes that more can be done in this regard during the University’s annual Career Day.

4. Sarafina Phillips
Faculty of Social Sciences- Economics- Her platform, when summarized, aims at urging others, especially students to be sure of their lives’ goal and equipping themselves with the right type of knowledge so as to reap positive results.

5. Gabriella Chapman
Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry- Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture- Her platform when summarized, aims to encourage the availability of land resources on campus for Agricultural Science students.

6. Christina Richardson
Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, Literature option. Education and Humanities- Inflicting change through art.
