UP to late Friday evening the police were still awaiting persons to show up and identify the remains of a man whose body was fished out of the Demerara River in the vicinity of Watooka in the mining town of Linden.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the man appeared to be in his 30s and was clad only in blue boxers when his body was discovered. It was also pointed out that the body which was partly decomposed did not appear to have any marks of violence.
Police sources in the community related that the discovery was made around 21:00 hrs on Thursday evening. After the body was fished from the river, it was taken to the Wismar Hospital where police were awaiting persons to show up and claim it. That, however was not done.
