PEEPING Tom’s article, ‘Haul Yours..’ (2015/01/06) is a very telling commentary on the double standards of many people in Guyana who masquerade as intellectuals, freedom fighters, and human rights activists, like Freddie Kissoon.Peeping Tom mentioned a number of examples in our history when sitting Presidents like Forbes Burnham and Desmond Hoyte made derogatory statements yet nothing much was done to challenge what they said.
The example with Burnham was hilarious but at the same time it captures the true personality of Burnham who later fashioned the 1980 Constitution that gave him immunity from prosecution.
When Janet Jagan threw the court order over her shoulder she wasn’t being arrogant. In fact, she was just being realistic and practical. The Constitution was made to give her right to enjoy the privileges that Burnham enjoyed. Why was it right for Burnham to benefit from the Constitution and not Janet. The Opposition and the media tore into Mrs. Jagan but were mum during the Burnham and Hoyte regimes.
Freddie Kissoon reminds me of the character, Don Quixote, made famous by the Spaniard, Miguel De Cervants.
Freddie flails at everything that is associated with the PPP. Like Quixote, Kissoon does not apply rational and intellectual thinking to the attacks he carries out on a daily basis. He is driven by a ruthless, arrogant, malicious and sadistic desire to destroy the PPP and all it supporters.
He attacks President Ramotar and speaks of the latter in a derogatory manner, (2015-01-01) ‘Ramotar comes across as a stupid man’. No one chastises Kissoon for this despicable act that he commits in the name of freedom of speech. You know what Kissoon? “It takes one to know one,” and “when you live in a glass house do not throw stones”.
You know why Kissoon? The glass of your house is already cracked and splintered. A little stone will smash it! Kissoon does not respond to Ramjattan’s “haul your ass”, but attacks Attorney General Anil Nandlall, former President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, President Donald Ramotar and now the President’s daughter, Lisa.
What is wrong with Lisa saying that even though her father is President, she still enjoys the simple things in life, “like baking and jogging”.
Her humility should be admired. It is quite simple now why Freddie should be called the Don Quixote of Guyana. It will be instructive for Freddie to read about this dumb character and take note of how his flailings ended.
Peeping Tom should be complimented for highlighting this sinister side of Guyanese. I strongly believe that the former President, Dr. Jagdeo, was correct when he mentioned that Indians are being discriminated against in Guyana. Look at what happens in Guyana after elections. Yet those who are vocal now against Mr. Ramotar, etc., are silent when Indians are beaten, robbed and raped.
However, there is something called Karma. The evil that men do live after them. God is someone who does not accept bribes. Those who commit these crimes together with those who benefit from these crimes, will all suffer the consequences. You see them being killed like dogs.
