RHTYSC launches Silver Jubilee anniversary celebration with religious service and multi-million Christmas Charity programme

GUYANA’S leading youth and sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, was formed in 1990 by three-time Commonwealth Youth Service Awardee, the St Francis Community Developers.Last Sunday, the Club officially launched its Silver Jubilee celebration with a morning religious service at the St Joseph Anglican Church. Executives and members of the Club attended the service which was conducted by Father Abel Nq’andeve Musonda.

The service included several cultural presentations while the club also shared out food hampers to five senior citizens of the church, with toys also being shared out to children who attended.
In addition, each male attendee was presented with a Christmas gift while the RHTYSC handed over special gifts to Father Abel Nq’andeve Musonda and Ms Sonia Leow for their outstanding contribution to the church. Light refreshments were served to everyone attending the religious service.
Secretary/CEO of the RHTYSC, Hilbert Foster, in brief remarks, stated that the club was proud to celebrate 25 years of unbelievable progress and disclosed that 2015 would be celebrated as the Silver Jubilee Year with a total of 200 programmes/activities planned.
These will be executed under the sub-headings of sports, education, anti-suicide, community development, youth development, charity, awards and religious.
Foster informed the attentive congregation that over the years, the RHTYSC had made a positive difference in the lives of tens of thousands of persons and would continue to do so in the future.
He also announced that in 2015, emphasis would be placed on the club’s nursery cricket section in an effort to produce new talents for the future and special emphasis would also be placed on religious activities as the club continues to place faith in God during its 25th anniversary.
Father Abel Nq’andeve Musonda praised the club for its outstanding role and expressed confidence that the next 25 years would be as successful as the previous one.
The cricket teams of the club along with its Over-35 section also successfully completed a multi-million charity programme for the Christmas season as part of the Silver Jubilee launching.
Hundreds of less fortunate families received food hampers while thousands of children received a toy each for Christmas. Senior citizens were also treated to a Christmas luncheon and received numerous Christmas gifts while 40 orphans at the Camal Children Home in Albion received special attention as well..
A massive feeding programme was also organised for the less fortunate residents while numerous churches and NGOs received footwear, toys, food items and special gifts for distribution to their members.
