Thieves break into Henrietta house –steal ATM cards ID cards, money

THIEVES Wednesday night broke into a house at Henrietta Village on the Essequibo Coast and stole a shoulder bag containing ATM cards, identification cards and a sum of $2,000.00.According to owner of the house Ms Radika Indarpaul, the thieves removed a glass pane from a louvre window at the front of the one- flat concrete building, pushed their hands through and unlocked the bolt of a door to gain entry into the house. She said herself, mother and two young daughters were asleep when the thieves entered the house.

According to Radika who is a clerk in the accounts department of the Regional Administrative office at Anna Regina, she discovered the front door of the house open and the shoulder bag missing when she woke up just before 6am Thursday morning. She said the house was not ransacked and suggested that the thieves’ motive was probably to find money in the shoulder bag.
She said the matter was reported to the Anna Regina Police station and CID officers promptly visited the house to investigate.
Several other residents of Henrietta and Richmond Villages have reported that thieves are constantly attacking the villages. One resident said several homes were broken into during the past weeks and added that during the night, many young boys “gang up” in groups on the road side and remain there for long periods. He said even the streets are becoming dangerous to walk at night.
Residents are now calling on the police to do more patrols along the Henrietta and Richmond schemes and to root out the dangerous gangs from the street corners at night.
