UP to late yesterday the police were hunting for a man accused of stabbing to death another in West Bank Berbice.
Information reaching the media from the police disclosed that at approximately 00.01 hours on Saturday morning Surujpaul Ramnarine, 51, of Blairmont, West Bank Berbice attempted to act as a peacemaker in an argument between two other men when he was stabbed to the chest.
He was quickly picked up and rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead, as the police and residents launched a manhunt for the suspect.
Contacted yesterday afternoon, a niece of the deceased was reluctant to speak with this newspaper about the incident; she would only say that she believes that her uncle has six children and would not say where the man had worked, nor was she willing to give any other information.
