Purlette went on to win the WBO/NABO heavyweight title and retired in 2009 with a record of 40 wins, four losses with 35 K0s On the same day in 1991, light heavyweight Dennis Andries knocked out Edward Neblett in the fourth round of a fight scheduled for ten rounds.
The bout was the last in Neblett’s career.
