Armed bandits rob rice farmer of shotgun,cash, jewellery

A RICE farmer, his wife and two friends were robbed by five men while they were in their yard at Number 57 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, on Monday night.

The police reported that about 21:00 hrs on October 27, 2014, rice farmer Jaiswah Boodnarine, 59, was in the yard of his residence with his wife and two friends when they were held up by five men, two of whom were armed with a firearm and a cutlass.

The perpetrators took away Jaiswah Boodnarine’s licensed shotgun along with $200,000 and a quantity of jewellery and escaped.
