Education Ministry, Roraima State University explore ways of enhancing Portuguese curriculum

MINISTER  of Education, Ms. Priya Manickchand and Chief Education Officer, Olato Sam on Thursday met with Professor  Dr. Gioconda Martinez, Chancellor of the Federal University of Roraima State, Brazil and her team to discuss ways in which the ministry and the University can work together to enhance the Ministry’s Portuguese curriculum.

The Ministry of Education is very conscious that it has a responsibility to make sure that it meets the needs of Guyana today, as well as prepare young people to meet the needs of Guyana‘s growing global connections.
Since the launch of the Portuguese Curriculum in 2013, the Ministry of Education has started teaching Portuguese in 25 schools across Regions 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, and Georgetown.
