SAMPLES taken from the decomposed body of a female, suspected to be that of high school teacher Nyozi Goodman, who went missing on June 3, is expected to be back in Guyana in two weeks time from Trinidad, according to Crime Chief Leslie James yesterday.

Crime Chief James stated that the samples were dispatched several weeks ago to the twin-island republic for DNA testing to determine whether it is indeed that of St. Stanislaus teacher Nyozi Goodman.
At the scene at Turkeyen, a belt belonging to Goodman was found near the skeletal remains on July 24 and was identified by her mother.
Goodman, 34, of William Street, Kitty, failed to return home after she accompanied a group of students for the Inter-Secondary Schools Basketball Championships in the city on June 3.
She sent her students ahead while informing them that she would be picked up by a friend and was never seen alive again.
It turned out that the friend did arrive but persons were not able to ascertain who the individual was.

However, others who saw the woman in the company of the man on the night shared the information with sleuths and the man was arrested for questioning but he had solid alibis which caused him to be released from police custody.
After the remains were discovered he was re-arrested and again released due to the lack of evidence, since the 72-hour holding period had expired.
A post-mortem examination conducted on July 28 by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh on the decomposed remains of a so far unidentified female found aback CARICOM Annex at Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, gave the cause of death as incised wounds to the abdomen.
