Home Affairs nails Kaieteur News report as erroneous

THE Ministry of Home Affairs, in a press release, refers to an article that appeared in the 2, 2014 edition of the Kaieteur News in which ex-Neighbourhood police rank, Yutive Mac Cloud, of Mahdia Police Station alleged that the police were not taking action against Brandon Johnson for committing an assault on her.It added that the police have since provided the ministry with an update on the matter.

The release said that on April 17, 2014, Mr. Brandon Johnson, charged in the matter, was found guilty by the presiding Magistrate at Mahdia Magistrate’s Court for the offence of assault causing actual bodily harm committed on Yutive Mac Cloud.
He was fined $10, 000 and was bonded for a period of six months.

The document stated also that Yutive Mac Cloud, who was also charged by the police, was found guilty on April 17, 2014, at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court, for the offence of assault committed on Brandon Johnson.

She was fined $5,000 and was also bonded for a period of six months.
