Marvin Cumberbatch of Guyana Water Inc. was last night shot dead in North Sophia after he was robbed of his motorcycle.

The man had moments before picked up his girlfriend from classes and dropped her off at her home in Sophia.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the bandit wrestled with Cumberbatch, shot him and rode away on his motorcycle. Cumberbatch was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
Meanwhile unconfirmed reports suggested that the same man who robbed Cumberbatch of his motorcycle rode up to a car and shot one of the occupants in the neck.
The injured man has been identified as Kwame Smith, and up to late last evening he was receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
And in the third shooting incident at Pigeon Island, East Coast Demerara, a man was arrested and up to late last evening in the custody of the police.
Information reaching this newspaper stated that the man turned up at his wife’s home and attempted to kidnap their children. He became angry when he did not succeed and fired several shots in the air. The Guyana Chronicle will bring you full details of these incidents in tomorrow’s edition.
