LAKE Mainstay Resort will be hosting its 14th Annual Regatta and Stage Show this Sunday (August 10) at its magnificent fresh water lake on the Essequibo Coast.
The gates will be opened from 09:00 hrs, and regatta commences at 11:00 hrs. The stage show would commence immediately after the presentation of cash prizes and trophies to the regatta winners.
The package of attractions will see Neil Gonsalves & Team from Pomeroon coming up against Dave Scott & Team from Bartica for the ‘Clash of the Titans’ award.
Fifteen categories of power boat racing will be held as follows:
* Two 15HP races of two-lap duration, male/female race
* Two 40HP races of three-lap duration, male/female race
* Three 90 HP races of four-lap duration, male/female race
* Two 200 HP races of five-lap duration, male/female race
* Three Open HP races of six-lap duration, male/female race
Along with one 200-metre canoe race for males
One 200-metre canoe race for females
One 200-metre Open swimming race
A Memorial Race in the 90HP category will be held in honour of Orin Bell.
There will be over three million dollars (3M) in cash prizes and trophies to be won in the aforementioned events.
After the daredevil regatta races on the water, the big stage show and beach party will unfold with the following artistes: Big Red, Shelly G, Prince JP, Lyndon Jumbie Jones, Caribbean Hot Shots Band, Pream’s Mega Sounds and Exotic Dancers. There will also be a children’s fun park besides a food court and beverage bars.
Lake Mainstay Resort Regattas have grown over the years, and have gained a reputation for being well organised, disciplined, and attracting the biggest crowds in Guyana over the past two years.
This activity is considered a family event, and its organisers anticipate attendance to be in excess of 8,000 patrons from overseas and locals from across the country, especially the Essequibo Coast, Region 2.
Management promises that this event will be massive and entertaining. All attending are therefore advised to be early to secure a vantage spot to enjoy the many racing events all day long.
The admission fee is a mere $1000 for adults and $500 for children (U-10); but, at the gate, adults will pay $1200 while children (U-10) will pay $700.
