On inaugural flight from CJIA to JFK Dynamic Airline grounded after late arrival : Arrangement with Fly Jamaica cancelled, Gouveia frowns

There can be no celebration by the management of the Dynamic Airlines after the company experienced the unthinkable, yesterday afternoon the airline touched down at the John F Kennedy Airport in New York hours behind schedule and was forced to idle after it could not find a gate to occupy.The Guyana Chronicle was told that the airline was expected to arrive in New York early yesterday morning but after leaving the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana yesterday morning hours behind schedule the arrival in New York was not on schedule.
This publication was informed that the entire confusion is being laid at the feet of the ground handling agent at the JFK Airport who has since been fired by the airline administrators. The issue was compounded when the aircraft could not find a gate to transit after an arrangement they had with Fly Jamaica fell through.
Speaking with the Guyana Chronicle yesterday afternoon, local agent for Dynamic Airlines Captain Jerry Gouveia said that Dynamic Airlines had an arrangement with the management of Fly Jamaica to use its gate at the JFK upon arrival but without any clear indication to him, the company did not honour that commitment to its competitor.
However it is being reported that the decision by Fly Jamaica to be unable to fulfil its promise to Dynamic Airlines could have been largely because of the late arrival of the Dynamic aircraft at JFK. One source close to the operations of one of the company said that the possibility is that part of the confusion could be that at the time Fly Jamaica promised to have Dynamic Airline use its gate, the aircraft was not present.
Gouveia said that he was very disappointed that the two airlines had such a bad start since he has from the inception expressed the hope and willingness to cooperate with the other airlines despite the competition.
He remained at a lost to explain the reason for the pull-out of Fly Jamaica from the agreement while pointing out that the airline might not have even had the use for the gate at the time that Dynamic arrived at the location since Fly Jamaica passengers were stranded for some unknown reason.
He opined that had Dynamic used the gate they would have been able to accommodate the stranded Fly Jamaica passengers.
The local Dynamic Handling Agent said that up to late last evening they were trying feverishly to have the aircraft find a gate otherwise, Caribbean Airlines or some other airline would be approached to have the passengers travel back to Guyana.
Captain Gouveia told this publication that the unfortunate incident does not bring the company into any state of a loss of revenue since the passengers on board were part of the inaugural flight and they were not paying to be on board the aircraft.
Meanwhile the local ground handling agent at the JFK International Airport has caused Gouveia to be very disappointed since according to him, the man wrote him seeking to be contracted as the agent for the ground agent work at the JFK airport.
He said that the man claimed that he was a Guyanese and it was because of that he, Gouveia thought that the man could be given a change since the airline has been trying to source the services of Guyanese as part of its approach to offering Guyanese employment with the airline be it directly or indirectly.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dynamic Airline despite the glitch has recommitted his company’s intension to continue the Guyana route stating that the development is just one of the teething problem would has to be catered for thou not necessarily acceptable according to Gouveia.
