THE residents of Station Street, Kitty, in the vicinity of sports bars and rum shops, are continuing to suffer from various forms of noise nuisance, even though the Police have taken action against the operators from time to time.Patrons of these joints excessively honk their vehicle horns, much to the annoyance of neighbours. They throw empty beer bottles anywhere on the road, and even into people’s yards. They play music from vehicles parked in ways that contribute to hazards. They disturb the surroundings, and keep shouting late into the night.
The operator of one such venue feels encouraged to disturb the peace and quiet, since his partner in business is a high-ranking soldier.
Another often opens until 6 a.m, or never closes. After 6 p.m, vehicles cannot use the road in front of yet another.
On Friday nights, a popular one’s karaoke session goes on until 2 a.m.
It is our hope that some relief will be granted to us through some interventions.
