ACCUSED rapist, Sheldon Edwards, was yesterday ordered, by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, to post $200,000 bail.He was charged at the New Amsterdam Court in Berbice, with having engaged in sexual penetration of a 13-year-old girl.
The cane harvester of Pepper Street, Heathburn Village, East Bank Berbice, was not required to plea to the indictable charge.
The allegation is the second offence allegedly committed on the teen, following a previous one of sexual assault, for which Edwards was compelled to lodge $75,000 surety while the case is before the Court.
Detective Constable Keisha Deane Smith swore to the information which alleges that, in the latest case, on April 1, 2013, at Pepper Street, Heathburn, Edwards engaged in sexual penetration of the 13-year-old girl.
The hearing is to begin on July 22.
