Glory Guys return to winners’ row in Zoom Bar and Grill dominoes

TORONTO, Canada – After entering winners’ row for eight consecutive years and slipping to a rare defeat in the 2012-2013 season, Glory Guys came back with a vengeance to take top honours in the Zoom Bar and Grill 2013-2014 dominoes tournament which ended here last weekend.

The tournament, formerly played under the Liberty Bar banner over the past years mainly among Guyanese and Jamaican players, attracted nine teams and was played on an aggregate basis over several weekends.
After taking an almost unassailable lead, Glory Guys were never seriously challenged and in the end ran out comfortable winners with 2 735 games. Empire occupied the second position with 2 688 games with Essequibo

placing third on 2 673, last season’s winner Cougar fourth on 2 668 and Better Hope fifth with 2 665.
The other participating teams were Young Blood (2 637 games), Thunderball (2 625), Demerara (2 589) and Hustlers (2 568).
The Most Valuable Player award went to William Primo of Cougar, who totalled 496 games while Rashinal of Glory Guys was second with 491 games. Skipper Ryan Chung also of Glory Guys and Mercutico ‘Jerry’ Valenski of Better Hope tied for the third position with 476 games each.
Farouk Hack of Empire who shared nine loves, took the prize for the player sharing the most loves in the tournament while Zakir Khan of Cougar, who was also the main organiser, was second after sharing seven loves. Valenski placed third for sharing six.
Apart from receiving trophies and cash incentives at the final presentation ceremony, winning and runner-up teams as well as MVPs were awarded trophies on a weekly basis.
