PRESIDENT Donald Ramotar will today commission the National Sports Resource Centre, located in the compound of the National Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue at 16:00 hrs.
The National Sports Resource Centre, which is the forerunner of the Guyana’s National Sports Institute, will accommodate a library with various reading materials for athletes, coaches, teachers, officials, officers of clubs and associations/federations and technical persons and will provide effective preparation and proper planning and organising. Online researchers will also be accommodated.
It also houses a conference room for approximately seventy-five persons, which will be used for theoretical training and presentations.
“The commissioning of this facility is definitely a positive development for sports in Guyana. It is therefore imperative that all concerned must make adequate use of it,” the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport said in a Press release.
After the commissioning ceremony Professor Clem Seecharan will deliver the very first lecture at the National Sports Resource Centre, entitled ‘The History and Development of Guyana and West Indies Cricket – 1890 to 1960’.
