A man pleaded not guilty yesterday to stealing one washing machine valued $38,000 from his father on January 21 in Georgetown.
Dexter Grant (no address given) who was charged with simple larceny was refused bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. He was accused of stealing one washing machine valued $38,000 from his father Emanuel Grant.
However, the defendant told the court that he did not steal the washing machine but he pawned it for $4,000 and when he returns the money he will collect the appliance.
When asked by the Chief Magistrate whether he has any pending matter, he responded, “I carry away a girl bicycle and have to return to court on February 5 for that matter.”
He was remanded to prison and the case was transferred before Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond for report and fixture today.
