Review your recruitment procedures, do not employ perverts- Home Affairs
THE Ministry of Home Affairs has come out very strongly condemning the actions of some ranks of the Guyana Police Force. The ministry, in a statement last evening, addressed the fresh allegations being made by yet another male member of the public, this time a 16-year-old that three male police ranks sodomized him while he was in their custody at a police outpost in the city.
His allegation comes on the heels of an ongoing investigation into a similar act reportedly carried out on a 23-year-old male who is now hospitalized.
Should the allegations in both cases prove to be true, the fingered ranks need to be weeded out of the Guyana Police Force since they are not worthy of wearing police uniforms the statement concluded.
The ministry has sent a strong message to the Guyana Police Force to review its recruitment procedures and screening practices to ensure that it does not welcome perverts into the organisation.
The Ministry added that it stands ready to assist the Force in addressing these challenges.
