CRIME Chief, Seelall Persaud disclosed yesterday, that, following the execution-style killing of well-known designer and events coordinator, Trevor Rose early Sunday morning, a suspect was arrested but subsequently released.Rose had been on his way home when he was killed but the Deputy Commissioner (Law Enforcement) told this newspaper that a statement was taken, by sleuths, from the injured taxi driver.
However, they are yet to take one from Latoya Towler, 29, who was also injured and hospitalised after the 05:00 hrs shooting on January 26.
Troy Nieunkirk, 30, whose vehicle they were all in, on Eccles Access Road, East Bank of Demerara, when another drove up alongside and the driver accosted about his driving.
An argument ensued during which the driver of the other vehicle disembarked with a firearm and fired numerous rounds at Nieunkirk and the other occupants in his car before escaping.
Rose was wounded about his body and pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) while Nieunkirk suffered injury to his left shoulder and Towler to her buttock.
Nieunkirk and Towler are hospitalised while a 9 mm pistol and 19 matching rounds were recovered at the scene as the investigations continue.
Previously, on February 18, 2011, Rose, a father of eight, was shot and robbed of $2.5M by gunmen hours after launching costumes for Banks DIH Mash Band at the Burnham Basketball Court.
He was married to designer, Michelle Cole, with whom he has several children and was an avid basketball fan/player.
