UNITED States (U.S.) deportee Gordon Allen was, yesterday, convicted on drug trafficking charges by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The 48-year-old convict, who had made his first court appearance before Magistrate Ann McLennan on December 16, 2013, previously pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Particulars of one offence said, on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Orange Walk and Regent Street, Georgetown, he had 17 grammes of cannabis sativa (marijuana) for the purpose of trafficking.
Another charge said, the same day, he had one gramme of cocaine also to traffick.
At his first appearance, Police Corporal Dinero Jones, prosecuting, said Allen was observed around the Bourda Market area sitting on the pavement and being frequently approached by different persons.
He was also seen going into his pocket and taking out a black plastic bag, which contained something that he was giving to persons and a search of his person yielded weeds, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis and a creamish rock-like substance believed to be cocaine, the prosecutor said.
On that occasion, he was denied pre-trial liberty and the cases were transferred to Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for January 6, 2014, then before Magistrate Latchman.
Magistrate Latchman informed the defendant that, having considered the mitigating factors, seriousness and prevalence of offences, she sentenced him to three years imprisonment and fined $25,000 for the cannabis.
In relation to the cocaine, the sentence was 14 Saturdays of community service, excluding national holidays, beginning after the prison term and a $3,000 fine.
