Defendant has other address to avoid contacting complainant
BUSINESSMAN Osafa Yarde, 28, of Lot 154 Lodge Housing Scheme, Georgetown, charged with using threatening language, was ordered to post $25,000 bail, by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which said he committed the offence last Saturday, January 25, at Lodge Housing Scheme, by threatening Christine Fernandes, whereby a breach of the peace may be occasioned.
Police Inspector Michael Grant, prosecuting, did not object to bail and the case was transferred to Magistrate Dylon Bess for report and fixture on February 17.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Dexter Todd, representing the defendant, said the virtual complainant is the defendant’s mother, who has no pending case before any Court.
He said Yarde has an alternative address, at Lot 83 Princes Street, also in Lodge, where he will be residing to avoid contact with the virtual complainant. (Geeta Rampersaud)
