Baby allegedly abducted from Day Care Centre recovered from house at Pouderoyen

AN infant girl, who was reported as having been abducted from a ‘day care centre’ on Monday afternoon last, has been recovered from a house at Pouderoyen Village, West Bank Demerara, on Tuesday.Police got involved after the alleged abductor, Candace Adonis turned up at a relative with the four months old infant, Miracle Angel Price, claiming the child was hers.
Investigators arrived at the house and the woman was arrested and taken to the location where she was keeping the toddler.
The infant had been previously uplifted by Adonis from Care Heart Day Care at Middle Street, Buxton, East Coast Demerara, about 15:30 hrs Monday after telling the Headmistress and another staff member that she was the child’s aunt.
However, when the baby’s mother, Samantha Prince arrived, after 17:00 hrs, to submit documentation and collect her, she was advised that her sister had earlier done so.
The mother called her sister and was told the baby was not with her. It was the toddler’s first day at the day care centre.
Head of the institution, Seatta Reid claimed that Prince was too late for other duties and in a hurry, which prevented her from completing the form that supplied all the names of the persons authorised to take custody of the young child.
