FRONT bencher for A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) in the National Assembly and Deputy Speaker, Deborah Backer, was reportedly flown to Florida, USA, for medical tests.

Details on the particulars of her illness have not yet been divulged, but APNU Leader David Granger, in recent media reports, has expressed his hopes for Backer’s speedy recovery.
Parliament is expected to meet on January 16. When asked about her attendance, Granger said: “Mrs. Backer’s condition is stable and we don’t have any reason to speculate on her attendance.”
The Member of Parliament (MP) has been ailing for some time and was first treated at a private hospital in Georgetown.
