Speaking with this publication yesterday, Primo said “March Out” is a crossover song that is simply different in that it targets the market in Europe, but he is confident the song will gain popularity among the locals as well.
He described the song as having a nice groove. It was produced by overseas-based Guyanese Ernie of Reflex Studios in Canada, who also produced his song “Nosy People”.
Noted for the way he can move his ‘waist’, which gained him the monicker “Rubber Waist”, Primo said the song is a rev-up song for Mashramani, and is his first release for this year. He said the song has a vibe that is similar to the song “Ready for the Road” by Bunji Garlin, and is a spin-off from his previous song which was released last year, “Nosy people”.
Primo said the song deals with real issues that people can actually relate to, and it also depicts unity. He said the video production is in the pipeline, and that he would be on radio and television to discuss it and to get feedback and reviews in live programmes this Friday.
Primo added that his other song, “The Road”, will be released in time for Mashramani 2014. He said it entails masquerading, costumes and pure enjoyment on the road as we celebrate.
Moreover, Primo said he would also be releasing in time for Mashramani a CD titled “Release Self”, which is made up of a series of songs (road mix), and would be distributed free of cost.
He further disclosed that he would be collaborating with X2 and the Heat Wave Band to launch a band for tourists in the United States and Canada this year; and this year would see his final participation in the Soca Monarch competition, since he would be migrating to Trinidad and Tobago to upgrade his music career. He said he has made his contribution locally, and it is time for him to move on.
He is still active with the Bryon Lee’s Dragonaires band, and expressed gratitude to his fans and the Mashramani Secretariat for their unwavering support.
Primo won the Soca Monarch competition two times, and is the one-time winner of the local Groovy Soca Monarch competition.
