Brothers charged with theft from same person

MAGISTRATE Judy Latchman, yesterday, granted two brothers $30,000 bail each on separate charges of simple larceny.Kieron Douglas, 18, of Lot 160 Block ‘E’ Farmers Plot, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge that said, on Saturday, January 4, in Georgetown, he stole three sunshades, one desk lamp and one pair of eyelashes, all together valued $1,900, property of Tulsie Sahadeo.
Joel Douglas, 21, of the same address, also denied the allegation that, the same day, he, too, stole, from Sahadeo, two packs of naphthalene balls, one torchlight and a toy gun, all worth $2,000.
Attorney-at-Law Mr. Paul Fung-a-Fat represented the siblings and made the bail application, arguing that nothing was found in Kieron’s possession but a sunshade was recovered from Joel, which both he and the virtual complainant are claiming.
The cases have been postponed to January 15.
