Minister Nandlall, on behalf of the President, the First Lady, the Government of Guyana and General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP/C) Clement Rohee who, most unfortunately could not make it to the event as a result of other engagements, expressed best wishes to the children.
He outlined that “Christmas is a time of giving and sharing, especially in respect of those who may not be as fortunate as others and those who may not have their families with them.”
“That is the spirit which inspired the visit to this orphanage,” he said.
The children were treated to a lunch, ice cream and gifts which were contributed and financed by President Ramotar.
Ms Anita Persaud and Mr Sahadeo Persaud also assisted in Thursday’s activity by making personal donations to the children.
Also present were Coordinator of the President’s Annual Christmas party Ms Tulsidai Wizien, and Director of the orphanage Kenneth Finlayson.
The Hope Children’s Home was started in 2001 and this activity has since become a tradition which was started by former President Bharat Jagdeo.
