I always had a high level of regard for him – President Ramotar
PRESIDENT Donald Ramotar has described the late Assistant Police Commissioner Derrick Josiah as a very polite and pleasant police officer who executed his duties in a very professional manner.During a telephone interview with this reporter last evening, President Ramotar said he had several encounters with the late ACP Josiah in his line of duty, and at all times Josiah had displayed a very high level of commitment to his work.
The President said he had always held Josiah in high regard. “I always had a high level of regard for him (Josiah),” President Ramotar told the Chronicle.
The President said he was very shocked to hear the news of ACP Josiah’s passing yesterday afternoon. According to the President, it was only on Wednesday when he returned to Guyana that he asked Police Commissioner Leroy Brumell about the condition of Josiah.
He said the Commissioner had informed him that Josiah was doing well and was recovering nicely.
On behalf of his family and the Government and people of Guyana, President Donald Ramotar expressed deepest condolences to the relatives, family members, colleagues and friends of the late ACP Derrick Josiah.
