PRESIDENT Donald Ramotar on Saturday departed Guyana to attend the funeral of former South African President Nelson Mandela. Before leaving,President Ramotar signed the Book of Condolence.
Mandela renowned worldwide as an anti-apartheid leader, humanitarian and a hero passed away on December 4 at age 95. An official memorial service is slated to be kept at the FNB Stadium on the outskirts of Johannesburg.
A large gathering at State House on Saturday night engaged in carolling observed a minute of silence in respect for the revered, fallen South African President.
