Police still looking for person of interest
CRIME Chief Seelall Persaud said, yesterday, that police are still looking for a person of interest, following the November 14 murder of city hotelier, Joseph Jagdeo.

The man was found dead in a room by staffers after the suspect, who had been a guest at Jagdeo’s South Central Hotel, on South Road, Georgetown, suddenly disappeared.
It is reported that the man and Jagdeo had a ‘tiff’ over two cell phones that were missing.
Jagdeo, 62, of Lot 218 South Road, the owner of South Central Hotel and Bar, had been trussed up when discovered under a bed in the hotel.
That was after he had been in an altercation for expressing his displeasure during a confrontation with the suspect who was staying there.
Jagdeo was last seen in the early morning of November 13, in his office as usual, tending to paper-work after which his movements were unaccounted for until his corpse was discovered under a bed in room ten.
His hands were tied; his mouth stuffed with a pillow case, and blood was oozing from his nose.
A female employee made the discovery in the three-storey building where about 15 persons, mostly women, were employed.
Jagdeo had remigrated to Guyana 31 years ago, taking over the family business and invested his time and money.
During that time he was described as a very generous person.
Police reported that a post-mortem, performed on Jagdeo’s body, by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, determined the cause of death to be asphyxia due to manual strangulation.
