Chief Justice grants 18 petitioners $4.4M in bail

CHIEF Justice (ag) Mr. Ian Chang, S.C. yesterday granted 18 Bail petitioners, $4.4M in bail pending the hearing of their cases.

The offences, the offenders and the respective amount of bail granted to each person are as follows:
*Causing death by dangerous driving: Delroy Gonsalves – $400, 000;
*Rape of a child under 16 years: Marlon Smartt – $250, 000; Samuel Proctor- $250, 000;
*Grievous bodily harm: Mohamed Baksh – $75, 000;
*Simple larceny: Amirollaw Kudrutulaw – $1,000,000; Possession of forged currency notes – $200,000
*Grievous bodily harm: Mohamed Zaman Baksh – $75, 000
*Possession of Narcotics: Jermaine Lucky – $250, 000; Puran Ramoo – $600, 000;
*Larceny of cattle: Ramchandan called Kadir – $100, 000;
*Cultivating prohibited plants: Elbert Stephens – $100, 000;
*Robbery under arms: Gopaul Outar – $200, 000;
*Robbery with aggravation: Devon Cumberbatch- $150, 000;
*Wounding & threatening language: Mark Boloin – $75, 000;
*Assault: Fenton Persaud – $25. 000;
*Unlawful possession of arms and ammunition: Tamorchander Persaud- $400, 000;
*Discharging a firearm within 100 yards of a public roadway : T. Persaud – $200, 000;
*Escape from Lawful custody: T. Persad – $50,000.
