A 35-year old mother of four, Samantha Schwartz was up to late last evening a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC ) after she was doused with gasoline and set alight by her bother.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the woman had just arrived at the lot 73 Section D South Sophia when her brother showed up and questioned her about a rubber slipper which she denied any knowledge of.
According to the information received the man became enraged and doused the woman with the flammable substance and set her alight with the use of a lighter.
When contacted last evening one of the woman’s sister said that the hospitalised woman had her three -year old daughter close to her when the man carried out the deed but fortunately she was not injured. After the woman was set alight, her 12-year old some came rushing to her aid with a bucket of water but was quickly advised against throwing it on his mother.
Meanwhile, the police are claiming that the burning is as a result of some weed that went missing from the brother’s shop. The man is said to be a shoemaker. The Guyana Chronicle will bring you added information on this story in tomorrow’s edition.
