Alpha continue unbeaten streak, but coach Dover worried about consistency

ALPHA `The Hammer’ United continued their fairy tale unbeaten streak in the Guyana Football Federation(GFF)/Banks Beer National Premier League with a 2-1 come from behind victory over Milerock at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in Linden on Sunday evening.Anthony `Awo’ Abrams and Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson scored for the winners in the 25th and 35th minutes respectively, while Dominique Bobb opened the scoring for Milerock in the 15th minute.
Bobb sent Milerock into the lead after the ball was crossed from the wing into Alpha United’s 18-yard box and Issa McPherson, in trying to head it out of danger, instead headed it to Bobb who converted.
Abrams found the equaliser 10 minutes later after Richardson made a solo run from midfield and dribbled four of the opposition’s players and made a square pass to Abrams who finished with a clinical shot into the opposition’s goal.
A similar situation occurred when Richardson added his name to the referee’s book.
The ball was played to team captain, Dwight Peters, on the right wing. Peters took control of it and dribbled the defender before making a square pass to Richardson who tapped it into the Milerock goal.
The win for Alpha propels them to 18 points, four more than their Georgetown counterparts, Guyana Defence Force, who lost 2-3 their sixth round match to West Demerara’s Young Achievers on Sunday also at the Georgetown Football Club ground.
Milerock remains on 10 points from six matches, having won three, lost two and drawn one which they lost in a penalty shoot-out.
