CORPORATION team, All Season Racing Service (ASRS), were on Sunday night last crowned champions of the F&H Printing Establishment $1M plus nationwide dominoes competition after winning the final at the National Gymnasium. ASRS chalked 78 games to finish ahead of Assassin who drew the bye to the finals with 70 and ousted champions TNT on 62, thanks to Franklin Seaforth’s maximum 18 games, while Mark Persaud supported with 14 and Errol Seaforth 13 for the winners, who took home $500,000, a trophy, and nine medallions.
Osmond Braithwaite scored the maximum 18 and Deodatt Dass 13 for Assassin while Trevor Smith and Kanhai Samaroo marked 13 each for TNT, who seemed heavily favored to repeat as champions, especially after seeing the demise of Mix-Up the previous day.
In the semifinal encounter, ASRS came out on top with 77 games, 13 more than TNT while Specialist were sent packing from the tournament at that stage, after they managed to accumulate 53 games.
J. Freeman chalked up 16 games for the victors, even as A. Chow and S. McKenzie scored 13 apiece for TNT and Specialist respectively.
TNT, led by J. Chance, Trevor Smith and Kanhai Samaroo, who all made 15 games each, won the quarterfinal with 74 games while ASRS placed second, and Frankie, another one of the favored teams, ended in the cellar with 59 games, as M. Persaud chalked 16 for ASRS, and K. Pollard 14 for Frankie.
Franklin Seaforth was named the Most Valuable Player in the finals. TNT received a trophy, $100,000, and nine bronze medals, while Assassin collected $250,000, a trophy and 9 silver medals.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of F&H Printing Establishment, Fazil Hakh, congratulated the winners and thanked the participating teams in the competition which was sponsored by Courts, Dave Persaud of Trinidad and Tobago, Steve’s Jewellery, King’s Advertising, and F&H Printing Establishment.
