Masked gunmen invade Better Hope shop

CUSTOMERS and the proprietor of Shavon’s Grocery and parlour were terrified last evening when two armed and masked gunmen invaded the small business place and carted off valuables.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the men invaded the business place just about 20.30 hours and held up the proprietor and demanded cash and jewellery.The men were able to make off with more than $80,000 in cash while taking with them the family’s jewellery.
As the men carried out the act they also gun-butted two men who were drinking at the establishment at the time. The police responded and up to late last evening were taking statements from persons in the area and also launched a hunt for the two bandits who were able to escape in a waiting car. The men also discharged several rounds in the air before leaving the scene
