SPEAKING with the Guyana Chronicle in a recent interview, BK International’s Project Manager, Mr. Charles Sobers, explained that the company has effectively completed driving 1353 piles at the Movie Town construction site over the past month, thus accelerating works ongoing there.

And come this new week, he said, the company would be driving another 400 piles at another section of that construction site.
Sobers said that BK has, over the last few weeks, moved several of its equipment on site to ensure successful and timely completion of the pile-driving exercise.
The first aspect of the contract started with the pile-testing load, to determine the number of piles that could be accommodated at the location; and that was done between the months of April and June.
The actual driving of piles commenced on July 01, according to Sobers, but some slothfulness at the Movie Town construction site saw works starting and ending sometime in 2011 and 2012, he disclosed.
At the moment, only the contract for the pile-driving exercise, which was won by BK International, has been awarded for work on the Movie Town construction site. The Movie Town company is now in process of looking for contractors to construct the actual complex which would house Movie Town; and, based on information reaching this newspaper, contractors, who would be issued with bid documents for the project, are being shortlisted.
BK International is among the contractors who have applied to provide construction services for Movie Town.
