THE World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca Cola is set to begin today with a series of events, following the Trophy’s arrival at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) on a special charter plane at 09:00hrs following its tour of neighbouring Suriname.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr Frank Anthony, co-Managing Director of Banks DIH Limited George McDonald and president of the Guyana Football Federation Christopher Matthias will be among dignitaries to welcome the Trophy, following which there will be a press conference held in the Arrival Lounge of the CJIA.
The delegation will then travel to Georgetown where a four-hour programme of novelty football events and the viewing and photography with the Trophy will take place at Banks DIH, Thirst Park, with invitees to the event, starting at 13:00 hrs.
Later in the evening at 19:00hrs, there will be a Gala Reception where President Donald Ramotar will join other dignitaries at Thirst Park, before the Trophy makes its way to Trinidad and Tobago for its final stop on the Caribbean leg of its journey.
Media houses are invited to cover all activities and are asked to note that transportation to the CJIA will be provided and will leave Thirst Park at 07:15 hrs, under Police escort.
