FORTY-THREE-year-old Denise Hope of Tucville, Georgetown had her throat slashed and was also reportedly stabbed to her back immediately after exiting the Universal Church (formerly Strand Cinema) at Charlotte and Wellington Streets, Georgetown on Friday last.
She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) and, up to 8.15am, was undergoing emergency surgery. Her condition was listed as critical.
One relative indicated that the suspected assailant, a taxi driver, is Hope’s ex-boyfriend, and that he fled the scene shortly after attacking her.
This newspaper was informed that the court had granted a restraining order against the suspected assailant two months ago, following allegations that he had repeatedly threatened to harm Hope.
